Volunteer Opportunities
Schedulers for Pick-Ups
This is an ideal role for someone who would like to contribute weekly but from home. Calls and emails are received with donation information. The scheduler is responsible for putting together the weekly “road map” for the drivers and emailing the information to them on a weekly basis.
Warehouse Volunteers
Warehouse volunteers are essential in ensuring the inventory is properly organized and has the correct labels and parts! These volunteers repair furniture; make sure bed frames have the proper hardware; sort and measure linens; stock shelves, and organize household décor such as linens, kitchenware, and décor items. An organized warehouse makes easier work for volunteers who pull items for deliveries.
Family Liaisons
Family liaisons work in teams to visit the homes shortly before they are scheduled for delivery. During the home visit, the liaison updates the needs list, verifies family preferences, takes measurements to ensure what furniture will fit, and confirms delivery date and time. Family liaisons usually accompany the delivery team to the home to help coordinate the setup.
Drivers & Movers
Drivers and movers are the heart of the operation. Without them nothing moves! Men and women are ALWAYS needed to drive the box trucks to pick up furniture donations, load the truck, and help with delivery.
Home Decorators
This is a perfect spot for creative people. Decorators use their creativity and ideas gathering articles to make a cohesive, beautifully decorated room. Using the needs list from the home visit, and the available inventory in the warehouse, the decorators choose coordinating pieces to furnish and decorate the homes.
Delivery and Setup Teams
The delivery day is the most exciting where all the volunteers – family liaisons, decorators, drivers, and movers – work together and actually see lives change! The volunteers meet at the warehouse and select the furnishings and decorations that were identified during the home visit. The team members load the truck at the warehouse and then caravan to the home. The “muscle” lifts the heavy furniture and boxes while the others setup and create the design. The volunteers work as a team staging and setting up the home. It is exhilarating to see it all come together! The final step of delivery is praying as a team with the family.
VOLUNTEER WITH US
We are 100% volunteers and love the flexibility that this opportunity provides! Although it is important to work together as a team, there are always allowances for family obligations, travel, and appointments. Most volunteers come one to two days a week. We can work within your availability. Volunteers are needed in the following positions:
